Boise reports the Idaho legislature will consider a bill to reduce the juror age from 21 to 18. The Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee endorsed the bill with a do pass on another measure lowering the marriage age for males from 21 to 15, while females remain at 18 with parental consent.

U S Coast Guard icebreaker Storis seized two Soviet fishing vessels off Alaska after a two hour pursuit. The Russian commander Vladimir Artemov surrendered and was taken into custody. A prize crew aboard the Lamut remained in contact with Storis as warning shots were fired.

Ida Prosectutors Oppose New Idaho Criminal Code

Gordon S. Neilson president of the Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association spoke at a Shoshone meeting to oppose the proposed penal and correctional code. He warned that court costs could rise 300 percent in Cassia County and urged lawmakers to reconsider the bill. The event was sponsored by the Shoshone Chamber of Commerce and the Detriech High School Boosters Club.
