Thieves Butcher 3 Feeder Cattle At Local Sale Yard
A Sandpoint Livestock Auction yard reports three feeder cattle stolen after 7 p.m. last Tuesday. One whiteface heifer and two Hereford Galloway cross-steers, over 500 pounds each, belonging to Thornton McGhee on cosignment, were butchered in the last pen and taken. insurance does not cover theft. Bonner County Sheriff’s Office investigates.

Spokane Man Faces LSD Possession Charge
Charles R. Wharton, 20, of Sandpoint appeared before Judge William H. Williams in Spokane on a charge of illegal possession of LSD. The arrest followed a November 28 hotel search for a heroin addict living in the Pedicord Hotel. Wharton is held in Spokane city jail with a maximum penalty of ten years.

Derby Winners and Antlers Judged at Sandpoint Meeting
The Bonner County Sportsmen Association held a meeting at Sand Point Community Hall where Dell Brown presented $145.60 checks to Derby winners Van Sawyer of Sandpoint for a 31 lb 7 oz Kamloops and Lawrence Liljenquist of Hyrum Utah via Fred Page for a Dolly Varden of 18 lb 8 oz. Brown reported Derby funds totaling 1 570 with 1 165.20 after prizes, and noted carryover to 1970. An antlers contest judged by two Boone and Crockett scorers was also highlighted.
