Posse Comitatus Still Active in Bonner County Crises
The 13 month old Posse Comitatus met with renewed vigor criticizing gun control taxes and land use plans. They claim the sheriff is the only legal law officer and warn of court actions against constitutional laws. Marshall Walter Merritt urged citizens to file suits and warned fees for lawyers are unnecessary. Local officials on regional councils were attacked as undermining government authority. Senate Passes Tax Rebate Measure in Narrow Vote
The Idaho Senate approved a 10 percent rebate on 1974 income taxes by 18 to 17, sending the bill to Gov Andrus who previously vetoed a separate relief bill. The $9 million measure faces doubts as Andrus favors surplus road and public works funding. Democrats opposed, arguing the public seeks the governor’s building program.

Kiebert Supports IFG Nomination Amid Conflict Claims
Idaho state senator Kermit Kiebert said he will back Wynne Blake for the Idaho Fish and Game Commission despite concerns of a conflict with Potlatch Corp. Blake may represent the lumber industry, yet Kiebert argues the commission should reflect all viewpoints. He will also back Scott Reed for the Idaho Water Resources Board, saying Reed adds balance as an environmentalist. Hearings on both nominations were scheduled today by the State affairs committee.
