Intersection sliding goes wrong for Daily Bee editor
Daily Bee sports editor Jim Waggoner attempted a stunt called intersection sliding in a 1969 Plymouth at a blind corner. He lost control, struck Judy Carter's car in Sandpoint, minor damage rated at two points by the IISA, and officer Harvey Ruffle cited him for speeding for conditions.

Spokane youth presumed drowned after canoeing accident
UPI reports 18 year old Mark Jansma of Spokane missing and presumed drowned after an outing with Trinity Baptist youth group on Lake Coeur d Alene. Memorial services are set for Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church where his father serves as pastor.

Cosmonauts End Mission Return From 18 Day Flight
Soviet cosmonauts Viktor Gorbatko and Yuri Glazkov landed in Central Asia ending an 18 day mission aboard Soyuz 24. Arrival was greeted by veterans Alexei Leonov and Nikolai Rukavishnikov at recovery HQ. Tass noted a smooth touchdown near Arkalyk and said Salyut 5 expeditions concluded successfully benefiting science and economy.
