Face lifting plan under way in Sandpoint

University of Idaho architecture students arrived in Sandpoint to survey residents and businesses for a four day study of downtown beach area redesign. The project includes 17 students led by Gerry Cichanski and Bill Synder with coordinator Cinc hanski urging residents to answer the city poll.

Idaho Senate Passes Public Kindergarten Funding Bill

Idaho State Senate approved a bill to finance public kindergartens with at least 320 dollars per child, funded from a special state fund. The plan is optional for districts and parents and would take effect July 1 with proportional reductions if funds fall short.

Jack Jones Resigns as Supt of Schools in Bonner County

Jack Jones, longtime Superintendent of School District 82 in Bonner County, submitted his resignation at a closed planning session Tuesday night. The five member board accepted the resignation but cannot act officially until the March 9 meeting. Jones, who has led the district 12 years, cited personal reasons and said he may pursue other roles in Idaho public education. He holds a BA from the University of Idaho and studied at the University of Portland. Board Trustee Bill Morton said the board will likely accept the resignation with regret at the upcoming meeting.
