Early lambing brings triplets to Bob Goody’s flock

Bob Goody reports an unusually early lambing season with three triplets born to a ewe just a day before. He cares for about 60 lambs amid cold weather, bottle feeding the smallest, and notes most of his 80 ewes have lambed. He sells about 25 lambs per year at the Spokane slaughterhouse and sees growing local interest in wool and lamb production.

Water Floodes Priest River Junior High School

A burst water pipe in the old section of Priest River Junior High flooded a girls dressing room sick room laundry area and a small bathroom. Principal Roy Krogh said lack of insulation along the exterior pipe caused the leak and insulation had been removed during gym shower and laundry expansions. Electricians began installing an automatic heater to prevent future freezing. A similar incident occurred when the building was built three years ago before insulation was added during later construction.

Commercial Fishing Backed By Sportsmen's Association

Bonner County Sportsmen's Association held a meeting in a community hall with almost 100 attendees to discuss 10 resolutions for the Idaho Wildlife Federation. Most resolutions passed by wide margins though two sparked debate, including a call to stop monetary prizes in contests and a push to reinstate commercial kokanee fishing on Pend Oreille Lake.

Library Fines Reinstated After Period Of Waiver

County library ends overdue fee waiver after thirteen months of no fines. Rich Wilson the Library Director cites mixed results and demands better patron compliance. A second notice will incur a one dollar service charge to cover postage and processing costs.

Pass Pleads Guilty in Priest River Burglary Case

Arthur Leo Pass 19 of Priest River pled guilty in District Court to first degree burglary and malicious injury to property. He faces a six month term in Wallace Regional Jail to run with a ten year sentence and will transfer to the Idaho State Penitentiary in Boise. The burglary relates to the Dec 1 1975 break in at Hensley’s Union Station Priest River. The malicious injury charge stems from a Sand Point City Beach incident last fall. Also Jon D Mason of Gold Creek had his 45 day cultivation sentence commuted to weekends in jail Feb 21 through Mar 28 1976.

Petition Filed to Form Laclede Water District

District Court hears a petition signed by 41 landowners to establish a Laclede Water District with public hearing and ballot for board directors. The plan covers pipelines treatment pumping and a reservoir with estimated costs exceeding 100000 over time.
