Hofmeister suit against Frost Featherston dismissed

A federal court dismissed the 330000 civil rights suit brought by Everett Hofmeister Jr against Thomas Frost and Daniel Featherston, ruling they acted within official duties in prosecuting his murder case. Hofmeister was acquitted last October of first degree murder in his wife’s strangulation. He may amend within 30 days or the case against Frost and Featherston will be fully dismissed.

Idaho House considers gas tax increases and election reform

The House Transportation Committee introduced bills to raise Idaho gasoline tax by one or two cents a gallon and debated a plan to merge presidential and regular primaries on the May presidential primary date. A tax bill to permit city and county non property taxes with voter approval was refined and slated for hearing, while a bill to move legislative start date was defeated 33-36.

State Jobless Rate Increases In Idaho In January

Idaho's unemployment rose to 6.9 percent in January with about 25 800 jobless, ending a three month decline. The national rate fell to 7.8 percent, the largest one month drop in 16 years. Analyst Steve Seward said the rise signals a plateau, not worsening conditions.

Priest River Pioneer Jennie Clintsman Dies at 80

Funeral services for Jennie Clintsman lifelong Priest River resident and retired Bonner County teacher were held at St Catherine's Church Priest River She died Wednesday February 4 at Sacred Heart Hospital Spokane from diabetes complications Born January 12 1905 in the Italian Settlement to Frank and Josephine Jachetta she began teaching at age 19 later serving at Settlement Idaho Hill and Priest River Elementary She married Earl Clintsman in 1933 and he preceded her in death.

Library To Present Report To Council
