Senate leader Mike Mansfield and three Northwest colleagues press Defense Secretary Schlesinger to drop a 26.9 million Minuteman II test plan. They warn benefits do not justify risks to lives and property and say inland testing could erode US deterrence and Soviet respect.
Archie J. Yager of Sandpoint was elected Chairman of the Idaho Board of Aeronautical Directors at the January Boise meeting. A Idaho native, he has led Bonner County Republican activities and chaired Sandpoint Beach Development and Waterway Council projects. George Cooke of Boise was elected Vice Chairman.
Daily Bee subscription rates for carrier and motor delivery were raised from $1.50 to $2 per month, effective February 1, 1974, while counter sales stay at 10 cents per issue due to higher paper and production costs.
