No Serious Injury From Plane Crash
A Spokane man escaped serious injury when his light plane crashed in a corral northwest of town shortly after takeoff. John W Rademeher, 42, was taken to Bonner General Hospital and released. Deputies say engine quit after takeoff and the wing struck a tree before crashing in the corral. FAA investigators were called in to conduct the probe.

Five Arrested In Apartment Drug Raid In Sandpoint
Police raided 421 South Third in Sandpoint, arresting five people Susan Ernst Gary Randles Timothy Austin Doris Holland and Cindy Lunde after six weeks of surveillance. They seized 1242 ounces of marijuana and assorted pills sent to Coeur d Alene for testing. Children and dogs found at the scene were turned over to guardians or the pound.

Northside Fire District Responds To Fires
The Northside Fire District answered four calls since Dec 16 including a light plane crash at Sand Point Municipal Airport. Firefighter Bob Lyons said two calls involved chimney soot fires that burned briefly but caused no damage. The district also checked the airport for life hazards and assisted with traffic control before returning to the station. A log fallen from a fireplace at Dr John W Smith’s home burned a hole in the floor but caused little other damage, according to Gary Tyler.
