Health plan deadline tight amid federal law review

Idaho officials push to approve a statewide health plan by the April deadline despite a new federal law that could grant an extra year for review. The Initial Health Systems Plan covers diagnosis, prevention, and rehabilitation while a Boise conference on health care costs is co sponsored by the Governor's Blue Ribbon Committee and the Association for the Humane in Idaho. Governors Evans Johnson and Norma Buchanan are among speakers at the January conference.

Appraisers Inspect Sandpoint Rural Homes Under Tax Review

The Bonner County Assessor's Office says appraisal staff are now in Sandpoint and nearby areas to inspect interiors of homes as part of tax assessment. Appraisers will visit residences within city limits and surrounding parcels to complete property evaluations.

Twin Falls Idaho newspaper publisher William E Howard says the Idaho Supreme Court wants a libel suit decided in district court before action. The court refused to hear an appeal on a district order tossing most defenses in a $36 million libel case and the paper blames former staff for withholding confidential source names.
