Idaho Governor Evans proposes a general fund budget totaling about 319.1 million, with 67 percent for education and 18 percent for human resources. He pledges no new taxes and seeks property tax relief through a 50 dollar credit, funded by a 9.55 million general fund appropriation, plus extended elderly tax relief and store license tax elimination. The plan boosts public school funding to 119.1 million, enabling higher teacher salaries and greater operating and capital funds, while maintaining higher education funding at 59.1 million and urging efficiency, personnel limits, and a brucellosis control program for cattle.
