Seas Gardner Injured in Sandpoint High Tumbling Accident

Seventeen year old Kelley Gardner of Kootenai was injured during a sidehorse tumbling drill at Sandpoint High School. She tore 60 percent of neck ligaments after slipping from a spotters’ grip. She was treated at Bonner General Hospital then Deaconess Hospital in Spokane and returned to school with a neck brace. Doctors expect she may ski by January 10.

Idaho Fish and Game to avert cuts for six months

Idaho Department of Fish and Game officials say budget cuts can be avoided for the next six months if the economy stays stable and new programs are started cautiously. A. Kay Belnap, chief of administration, notes sufficient funds exist for the fiscal year 1977 as approved, after cutting about one million dollars from this year's 9.2 million. The department plans to seek authority to spend 9.4 million next year, with no further cuts expected unless the Fish and Game Commission sets new priorities.

Fire Evacuates 40 at Spokane Ridpath Hotel Rooftop

UPI reports patrons fled the Ridpath Hotel rooftop restaurant as a fire erupted in an elevator motor room. About 40 evacuated Sunday night with no injuries as the fire remained in one electrical control panel and emergency halts stopped the elevators automatically.
