Morning Tractor-Trailer Collision Closes Highway 95 Near Sandpoint

A cattle rig driven by Larry Smith slid into a ditch on Highway 95 two miles north of Sandpoint around 5:25. Traffic was rerouted through an A&W Parking Lot while a logging truck swerved to avoid the wreck. No injuries reported and two tow trucks worked to free the trailer carrying 97 cattle. Smith had prior overweight and flare posting citations.

Fire report misidentified house location corrected

A Friday dawn blaze near Baldy Road was at the Phillip DeBoard residence not the Galen Denio home. Northside Fire Department chief Bob Lyons reported the 12:45 a.m. fire started in a smoke pipe from the furnace, likely caused by foreign material in the pipe. The house had no structural damage but suffered extensive heat and smoke damage. The Bee notes the correction.

Oregon official criticizes Supreme Court on fish apportionment ruling

A Oregon Fish and Wildlife official said the court should not decide fish shares in the Columbia River Basin.
