The Blizzard Buzzards and three nearby clubs in Bonner County Idaho the Priest Lake Ridgerunners Newport Cool Cats and Sandpoint Winter Riders held their first meeting of the year outlining safety and creed requirements. Members sign a code to ride responsibly and respect others outdoors. The Buzzards formed in 1969 and emphasize safe outings with a small core membership. They plan weekly rides weather permitting including night excursions and test ice before crossing frozen waters. Funds and equipment raised are donated for public safety with gear stored at East Hope Fire Station and a planned automated resuscitation device arriving soon.

Man Killed Pushing Truck Near Careywood
Bruce Barnhart twenty of Coeur d Alene died Monday night after being crushed under the rear tires while attempting to push a 1949 one ton flatbed truck from Sunset Road near Careywood. He was taken to Kootenai Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Ice covered streets contributed to a second crash in Sandpoint at Ella and Spruce when a logging truck and a pickup collided causing about 300 in damage.

Governor Cecil D Andrus praised the holiday trees donated from Idaho Christmas Tree Growers Association.
