Idaho Auditor Pushes Payroll Return to His Office
Idaho state auditor Joe R. Williams pressured 20 departments including the governor’s office to revert payroll control from the Division of Management Services back to the auditor’s office. Attorney General Robert Robson briefed Gov Don Samuelson and Secretary Pete Cenarrosa on the ruling. Williams argues the change is needed to meet constitutional duties and ensure on time accurate payrolls. An aide said the governor wants to verify the change is proper. The move follows last year’s reorganization transferring payrolls to management services while the audit office still handles most payrolls. The Idaho State Police noted a shift toward common sense could reduce highway crashes.
