Trial Date Set In City Union Dispute

District Court Judge Dar Cogswell set October 9 as the trial date in the dispute between Sandpoint and local 2319 firefighters over a February contract. Union representative Darius Williams claims a written agreement exists and accuses city actions of bad faith. The city challenges a state law on written labor contracts and firefighter bargaining rights, with a reply due by August 29.

Streaker Sentenced for Indecent Exposure at Sandpoint Graduation

A 17 year old youth was sentenced for indecent exposure at Sandpoint High School graduation. He received a 30 day term in Bonner County Jail with 20 days suspended and will serve 10 days at Wallace Regional Jail. a second underage beer case also yields a 10 day sentence. The school board will meet to decide if he will be readmitted to Sandpoint High as a senior.
