Mercury tests set for Idaho game birds slow to finish
Idaho Fish and Game Director John R. Woodworth said mercury tests on 200 to 300 game birds including pheasants chukars quail ducks and eagles will likely take several weeks with mid September results possible. Tests in cooperation with the Atomic Energy Commission could lead to an immediate season curtailment if poisoning is detected.

Idaho PUC approves rail fare hike for inter state traffic
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved a joint request by Burlington Northern and Union Pacific for a 10 percent increase in certain passenger fares to offset higher costs since 1963. The decision also sets minimums and rounding to the nearest 25 cents and allows protests by Sept. 1.
