Wrenco Loop Residents Protest Proposed Subdivision

A group of Wrenco Loop homeowners has signed a petition to block a developer's plan to subdivide about 200 acres near their homes. Enid Trenholm says roughly 50 residents back the effort and will present the petition to the Bonner County Planning and Zoning Commission at its August meeting. Concerns focus on water supply and groundwater contamination from wells and septic systems, plus opposition to more subdivisions in an area already zoned recreational open space and agricultural suburban. Roy Sample is pursuing the project. the commission will review the preliminary plat Thursday.

Burglars Net $2 900 In Loot From Clark Fork Area Home

A Clark Fork area burglary yielded about 2900 in valuables including a 2000 coin collection a 300 to 400 pearl necklace and two watches valued at 500 total The entry was gained by prying a back window frame Mildred Justice reported Sunday eight miles south of Clark Fork on the riverbank A string of other thefts across Bonner County included shop break ins and vehicle entries with firearms tools and cash stolen from various locations.

Kent Barns and Daughter Escape Mobile Home Fire

A Bonner County couple Kent Barns and his two year old daughter escaped a mobile home fire at 4 15 am with the residence destroyed within about ten minutes. The blaze threatened a neighboring trailer but residents kept it from spreading. Fire officials suspect an electrical panel caused the fire and investigators will view the site.

Six arrested in Schweitzer Basin Lodge burglary case

Bonner County deputies arrested six people on Saturday in connection with the July 21 Schweitzer Basin Lodge and Ski School burglary. Two radios valued at about 550 dollars each were recovered. Three adults and three Sandpoint youths were charged or petitioned. two suspects were extradited to face related charges. Thomas and Ewing were seized in Thompson Falls on a warrant. James Thacker faces a Bonners Ferry radio theft charge but not the Schweitzer Basin burglary. Several items, including the radios, have been recovered.
