Approximately $1,000 in carpentry tools were stolen from a locked house at 1026 Jefferson in Sand Point on Wednesday night. Hurley Van Sant, who is building the home, reported the loss after locking the tools inside and returning to find them missing. Police say the burglary investigation is continuing.

Boise Police Arrest Man In Armed Robbery Here
Boise police took into custody a 28 year old man wanted by Sandpoint City Police in the July 18 armed robbery of BJ s Restaurant in Sandpoint. The suspect Michael J Phillips faces Boise charges as well and a Sandpoint warrant was issued for his arrest. Witnesses had described a similar man seen in Sandpoint before the robbery. The gunman entered BJ s Restaurant at about 5 0 pm tied and gagged one employee, partially tied another, and ordered the third to lie on the floor before fleeing with 249.50 from the cash register. The employees were later found in the storeroom by the owner Beaner Johnson.

A 250 page Final Environmental Impact Statement and Land Use Plan has been published by the U S Forest Service for the Lakeview Planning Unit. The unit includes 57 120 acres of National Forest lands and 5 940 acres of privately owned land mainly along the lake or streams in the area. The plan allocates resources and land use prescriptions focusing on scenic lakefront quality plus fisheries domestic water recreation and wildlife. Copies are available from Sandpoint Zone Planning with a limited number of additional single copies.
