Lions May Sponsor Sandpoint Rodeo Together
The Sandpoint Lions Club board tentatively agreed to co sponsor the Panhandle Rodeo Association event. The rodeo is set for September 7 and 8 at the Bonner County Fairgrounds with a $1000 purse and is approved by the Rodeo Cowboys Association. The Lions expect to use their event organizing skills to boost the community effort.

Lost Woman Found Near Newport After Huckleberry Search
Gertrude Williams a 55 year old Spokane resident was found in good condition after going missing while picking huckleberries in the Gleason Mountain area near Newport Pend Oreille County sheriff said Bonner County searchers two dog handlers from Kootenai County Forest Service and the sheriff’s rescue team joined the night effort. A U S Air Force helicopter from Fairchild located her around 1 30 p m and transported her to Newport Community Hospital.

In Idaho First District, J Ray Cox won 14 019 votes to 13 940 for Ken Miller in a razor thin Democratic primary race. Former Rep George Hansen edged Orval Hansen for the GOP nomination in the Second District. George Hansen won the second district race by under 2 000 votes.
