Annual Fish Plant Planned For Mt. Lakes
Regional Fish Biologist Dave Ortman and Bob Cordingly outlined the annual project to transport trout fry to Selkirk area high mountain lakes. About 50 to 60 thousand fish are designated from the Sandpoint Hatchery, with Sunday, August 22 set for the planting. Members supply pack sacks and receive plastic milk cartons holding about 2,000 fry to carry on backcountry treks. Under normal conditions the fry survive about eleven hours in the bag away from sunlight.
