Interior approves J. Bridger plant amid aesthetic concerns
The Interior Department released a delayed final environmental impact statement for the J. Bridger thermal electric complex near Rock Springs Wyoming. It says the $300 million plant will burn 250 tons of coal per hour at full operation and complies with air standards though it will affect aesthetics due to three transmission lines crossing 150 miles of scenic western terrain and key highways toward Yellowstone. The department will require steps to minimize visual impact and warning of possible localized visibility reduction.
