Idaho Falls to join federal food stamp program

Bonneville County commissioners voted 2 to 0 to join the U S Department of Agriculture food stamp program after abstention by Commissioner Jean Tracy. Gary Andrus said certification starts Friday with operation slated for June 1. Commissioner Dean Huntsman noted drawbacks but favored federal program acceptance.

China warns US over Indochina aggression and aims to hold it responsible

Beijing blasted the Nixon administration for alleged premeditated steps to expand the Indochina war. The New China News Agency warned Washington that the three Indochinese countries and the entire region would face consequences, backing Laos Cambodia and Vietnam with China’s people. Networks cancel anti smoking ads after Curtis conviction

The three major networks and many independents pulled the American Cancer Society antismoking TV spots starring Tony Curtis after his London plea of guilty to possession of marijuana. Networks said replacements would be used, following Curtis's Heathrow Airport arrest and a $120 fine.

Water Diversion Discussion Targets Colorado River System

Gunship Lost With 6 Dead

SAIGON UP An Air Force AC119 Shadow gunship crashed after takeoff from Tan Son Nhut Airport during a combat mission. Six Americans killed and two injured. The crash occurred shortly after midnight and followed the loss of another gunship over Laos. The incident is under investigation. Battlefield reports note 45 Communist troops killed, three Americans killed, and 12 wounded in various clashes from Saigon to the Cambodian border.
