Gov. Cecil D. Andrus names Sandpoint attorney Stephen Bistline to Idaho Supreme Court to fill the vacancy from Chief Justice Henry McQuade’s resignation. The 55 year old, chosen from four nominees by the Idaho Judicial Council, expects to take oath May 15 in Boise.

Non injury accidents and sheriff audit dominate weekend report
Several non injury traffic crashes occurred Friday and Saturday in Sandpoint and nearby towns. John A Connally escaped injury on Highway 200 near Dover when his car rolled after leaving the curve. Arthur Johnson and Stanford Hunt collided on Fifth Street near Poplar causing $200 in damage. Elliott B Scott and Theordére C Hollquest were in a separate Second Street crash with no damage estimate recorded. The audit urged civil or criminal charges against Sheriff Von Cadow for alleged misappropriation of public funds and using impounded property for personal gain.

Missing Men Found Alive After Capsized Boat Spotted
Two men missing from a Lake Pend Oreille boating outing were found alive five miles north of Bayview after alighting near a rocky beach. Schaeffer and Kossman, reported missing at 7 05 am, were located by searchers. Kossman was in shock and rushed to hospital while Schaeffer returned to Sandpoint. The capsize was first spotted by a local at Cape Horn.
