Universitet Idaho Sandpoint notes high temperatures

Researchers at the University of Idaho Sandpoint Branch recorded a high of 74 degrees Thursday and a low of 32 degrees Wednesday night. Spokane's temperature climbed to 81 degrees yesterday as records fell across the region.

Woman Charged With Marijuana Possession In Idaho County

A woman identified as Janna C. Orlando was arrested at 2 30 a m Thursday by Bonner County sheriff's deputies and charged with possession of marijuana. She was released on her own recognizance by Judge Mills.

Burglary at Hope Home Stolen Goods Valued Over 1100

Charles J. Piersal reports his Hope residence burglarized between Saturday and Thursday. Basement door broken with four revolvers, one rifle, three holsters, a citizen's band radio and several other articles stolen, total value over 1100 dollars.

Three In Mishap At 6th and Pine In Heavy Traffic

At about 2 p.m. Thursday three local drivers were involved in a chain crash at the corner of 6th and Pine as pedestrians waited to cross. Lisa M Thompson of Dover rear ended Tammi Damiano of Sandpoint, pushing Damiano into Robert E Sleep of Sagle. Damiano’s car damage estimated at 1500 dollars and Thompson’s at 1000. Sleep’s damage minimal.

Three-state manhunt for murder suspect Michael Olds narrows

Paroled killer Michael A. Olds 35 is sought in a kidnap and slayings of cab driver Steven F Schmerer and Mary E Lindsay. FBI and Utah Highway Patrol warn northern Utah southeastern Idaho and southwestern Wyoming agencies to apprehend the armed suspect last seen hitchhiking near Brigham City on Interstate 15.

Westside volunteers and a Public Lands crew halted a half acre brush fire on West Baldy Road on Charles Elliot property. Sandpoint crews extinguished a garage fire at Winnie Smith’s home with minor damage. An oil stove overheating near Ann Erickson’s residence caused no damage. A woodpile fire behind Hydra Restaurant was contained. under investigation.
