Police describe a clean cut man age 20 to 35 who approached two girls aged 6 and 8 on South Boyer near a day care and asked for kisses. He followed briefly before driving off in a green pickup. A similar incident occurred Tuesday when another girl was approached and tried to be kissed in the same area.
Idaho Senator Reed Budge accuses Governor Andrus and Darrell Manning of manipulating funding within the Traffic Safety Commission to preserve the Alcohol Safety Action Program. He cites use of accident investigation funds and federal money to secure 87 000 dollars after the legislature declined.
Special prosecutor Thomas Frost in Sandpoint will remain for the grand jury session that convenes Monday afternoon. He is overseeing the inquiry into the death of June Darlene Hofmeister, with 16 jurors to be named from an initial list of 60.
A C5A Galaxy ferrying Vietnamese orphans to the United States crashed after two large rear doors blew off at 2000 feet. About 178 dead and 100 children survived. Survivors describe being sucked out as the doors opened. The incident halted the airlift but President Ford vowed to continue the mission. The crash is the worst in US air history, with many victims on the lower deck.
Burger King creates a $3,000 John Denker Scholarship at Cal Tech to honor electrical engineering student John Denker who led 26 students in a computer driven entry blitz for McDonalds contest. The offer also includes a temporary Denker Memorial Deal giving a free fry or onion ring with a purchase for customers presenting a damaged computer card.
Idaho motorists must renew plates and registrations as they fall due pending sticker changes. The Supreme Court said stickers require a specific expiration date. without it they are valid only for the year dated. Registration is staggered over a 10 month period based on the last digit of the plate.
Idaho's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 7.9 percent in February, the Idaho Department of Employment reported, with 29 400 people unemployed. Manufacturing job cuts led the downturn, while nonmanufacturing sectors gained, and total employment edged higher despite rising layoffs.
