Playground program to open Monday in San Marino
Beginning Monday June 21 at 9 a.m. the Huntington School Summer Playground opens for all San Marino children from kindergarten age, running Monday through Friday 9 to 12 under the San Marino Playground Commission. Five instructors include Williamson for kindergarten, Sadie and Taylor for girls, Bryce and Butterbaugh for boys. No charge. buses not provided. Officers will staff at Huntington School and nearby intersections during hours. Activities include treasure hunts, plays, games, tournaments, puppet shows, a Closing Day pageant, dancing, handicraft, and a wide range of sports from badminton to paddle tennis.

Womans Club Final Meeting At Huntington School
The San Marino Woman's Club concludes its first year with a 1:30 program at Huntington School auditorium featuring pianist Raymond McFeeters and soprano Florence Beeler in a concert and talk on The Romance of American Music from Civil War days to the present. Fire at Charles Cotton Residence Causes $500 Damage
A midnight blaze at 2390 Ridgeway road damaged the E Cottons home. Fire and police responders fought the flames, with a radio, piano, rug, chair, fringe and curtains burned or scorched. No injuries reported.

Latham To Speak On Antics Of Legislature In San Marino
Assemblyman E Val Latham will discuss the Antics of the 1937 Legislature at an open meeting in the San Marino City Court Room on Friday evening June 25 at 7 45. Two Fire Calls Tax Equipment of Department
One of the busiest moments in the history of the local fire department occurred last Thursday afternoon when two calls came in within a space of a moment. One call sent the first wagon northward and the second truck toward the south in response to grass fire calls from widely separated locations. Neither caused any damage according to local firemen.
Airplane crash near San Marino claims three lives
A Sunday crash in San Marino killed pilot Fred William Widow and two passengers, E M Patr, with five years flying experience for the pilot. The wreck occurred near Lom bardy and Chester, drawing a crowd of hundreds as authorities and emergency crews responded. The Stearman aircraft rented from Alhambra Airport struck at about 90 mph, injuring nearby grass and prompting swift removal of bodies to Dubois funeral home.

Airplane lands on Huntington street in foggy San Marino
Sunday marked Airplane day as Gordon Hazeltine of La Jolla landed a plane on Huntington and Windsor road using Huntington from City Hall to West Haven as a runway. Passenger Miss Ruth Dailey joined her first flight with little traffic aiding a safe outcome despite a sputtering engine and fog. Officer Perry Archer witnessed the near miss before the landing near Windsor south of Huntington.

San Marino School Board Raises Salary Budget for 28 Teachers
At the last meeting the San Marino school board increased the next year salary budget by 10 percent, totaling 4429 to be shared among 28 teachers at Huntington and Stoneman. Three new class teachers are to be hired, two replaced, and two part time kindergarten assistants added. Superintendent Neher will release the full list next week.

Witness recounts plane wreck near Chester and Lombardy roads
W O Hearsey of 645 Canterbury road, first on the crash scene, describes seeing three planes in the air and the private plane dive toward the ground after ribbons streamed from its wing. He raced to the wreck to help, shut off the motor, and kept bystanders from smoking as gasoline covered the area. He noted the transports flew parallel to the private craft before the crash.

Paul E. Stark president of the National Association of Realty boards visited Huntington Library with Mrs. Stark and other officials on Monday afternoon June 14. Head on Crash On Huntington Leaves Injured Passengers
At midnight Monday a head on collision at Huntington and Chelsea road left Miss Jean Sanford with lacerations to the chin and forehead. The crash involved a car driven by Miss Anne Ryan of 40 St. James Court Pasadena and another car driven by Scotty McDonald of 1156 North Hill Pasadena who was turning left onto Chelsea.
