Play Contest Sponsored By Local Group
The San Marino Studio Theater sponsors a play contest for original entries from San Marinans. Entries must be an unpublished three to four act play of about two hours running time with California subject matter optional. Submissions due by September 1, 1935 to Louise Liebhardt care of San Marino Studio, 980 Afton Road, San Marino. Reading committee led by Enid Hart will judge. winner to be produced by the San Marino Players in October.

Girl Scouts Hold Spring Court of Awards
Over 1500 San Marino Girl Scouts and mothers witnessed the Spring Court of Awards held Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Jacob Minder’s home 1876 Windsor Road. Troop 14 and Troop 27 members were presented for shoes with members of both troops.

San Marino Leads May Building. Five-Month Value Tops Half Million
San Marino again led surrounding communities in May building with 151,148 for 13 new homes and alterations. Through May the city topped adjacent areas with a valuation over 564,858.94 for 1935, up more than 300,000 from 1934, while May permits included a 6,000 dollar two story home on Lorain road and a June permit for a ten thousand dollar eight room two story home on Lorain road.

San Marino Day activities run from 2 30 to 7 30 at Huntington School with events in the rear court and track. Boy Scouts will issue identification tags as San Marinans mingle. The Huntington Senior Orchestra, directed by Miss Theo Schwaiger, performs two selections followed by the Stone Man School Kinderband.

Val Woodbury Re-Elected City Official in Alhambra
Val Woodbury was re elected president of the Alhambra City Commission after a June 4 election. He received 2657 votes while Cornelius J. Balch had 1097. Clair V. Ward, James B. Ogg, Charles L. Ary, Mrs. Martha Baldwin, H. D. Osborn and R. Leslie Sparks also secured posts in the city government.
