San Marino celebrates a grand fiesta with a community day on Saturday starting at 2 30 pm. Citizens will enjoy a day of fellowship after months of planning and a communal dinner touted as good food for all ages.
Dorothy Abbott a junior at South Pasadena High School from La Mirada Avenue has been cast as the desert flapper in the June production Windswept by the San Marino Players. The show runs Monday June 10 through Saturday June 15 with Mrs. Margaret Bent Hopkins directing the Agnes Peterson script from Pasadena.
An exhibition honoring Sir Thomas More runs through June 15, marking his canonization by Pope Pius XI on May 19 and his beheading in 1535 for opposing Henry VIII. Highlights include rare editions of Utopia, including the first 1516 and second 1518 European editions, plus a biography by William Roper illustrated with More’s portrait.
The Huntington School music department under Miss Theo Schwaiger will present two concerts next week. On Tuesday June 4 at 7 pm the Senior Orchestra will perform with the Girls Chorus and Senior and Junior Boys Chorus. On Wednesday June 5 at 7 pm the Junior Orchestra will perform with the Junior Boys Chorus.
Col Edward P Bailey now of Long Beach will present his research paper The Ancient Continent of Lemuria at the Advance Book Store Hall 628 West Sun Street Los Angeles at 8 pm tonight May 31 The illustrated talk shows Aborigines descendants of the Lemurians living today in Australia The lecture repeats at 418 Locust Avenue Long Beach on June 5.

An international theme and surprise features accompany the Brownie Revel on Friday afternoon June 7 from 3 30 to 5 30 at San Marino City Park. About 100 Brownies are expected, with San Marino leaders coordinating jointly with neighboring towns and mothers committees. Mrs Martin Johnson and Mrs Horace Pearson lead San Marino arrangements, while a parallel revel will be held for Pasadena Brownies in Pasadena.
Laura Bee reports on the conclusion of the Ivey extortion case. Jack Williams, alleged mastermind, is dying in Los Angeles General Hospital. San Marino police and the Department of Justice are praised for handling the dangerous plot that terrorized Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Ivey of 159v Shenandoah over three weeks. San Marino Police Chief Gene B. Woods will speak at the combined Stoneman and Huntington Parent-Teacher Associations meeting on Tuesday June 4 at 2 30 PM in Mrs. Campbell’s gardens 1416 Wilson Ave. He will discuss safety for children and adults and outline the extortion plot against H D Ivey and the burglary roundup handled by the local department.
