The San Marino Day opening activities ran from 2 30 p m to 7 45 p m with around 1000 residents attending. Boy Scouts tagged entrants at the school grounds, aiding crowd familiarization. The program began in the court behind the school with selections by the Huntington School senior orchestra.
Ground breaking for a nine room one story home at 2195 Sherwood near West Haven will take place tomorrow afternoon. George H. Crowshey, building inspector, leads formalities with ceremony. George Peterson of 825 South Date Street Alhambra is contractor for Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Barkstrom of 1200 South Fourth, Alhambra. Architect George Lourdon and engineer R. M. Beanfield of Los Angeles oversee the project. Project total cited at 32093 dollars.
The class of 1935 at South Pasadena High School graduates 253 members beneath floral arches as parents and friends fill the audience. Senior girls wear white semi formal dresses with spring flowers while boys sport white flannels and dark coats with gardenia buttons. the orchestra under Julius Kranz plays classic pieces and the class sings a recessional led by Albert J. Adams.
A San Marino Day appreciation note credits the committee and organizations for cooperation that made last Saturday’s event a success. It notes future growth with continued support and singles out Mr. Frank Collins and the San Marino Tribune for supplying ribbons, advertising and publicity.
Our Students Stepping Out Stepping Up reports a graduation ceremony at Henry E Huntington School for a junior high class of 35 students. The event featured the Call to Colors and a Flag Day pageant with the rendition of The Flag Goes By, planned by the class and witnessed by parents and friends.

Members of the San Gabriel Valley Unit of the California Newspaper Association toured the Henry E Huntington Gardens library and art gallery in San Marino starting at 2 p m The visit featured rare books and manuscripts shown by Robert O Schad curator of rare books and manuscripts The day concluded with a dinner at Bow Bells tea room where Schad spoke on the library staff founder and plans to attract scholars under Dr Max Farrand free for research and outreach
Southwestern's two motorized wagons The Pioneer and The Pathfinder carry 20 boys on a two month trip to visit the California Pacific International Exposition in San Diego and spend time near the Mexican coast. Major Veronda plans the itinerary with cadets Bonnie and Elsie Veronda onboard. The voyage marks Southwestern's tenth such expedition following earlier trips to the Grand Canyon Crater Lake and Mt Shasta.
The Tribune through Mr Stanley Arndt led a campaign for weed removal along the Pacific Electric right of way. Authorities responded with success, improving the appearance and desirability of the home city.
The San Marino Garden Club holds its first organized meeting Wednesday morning June 19 at 10 in the gardens of Mrs. Raymond Hill at 2480 Oak Knoll. The program covers Summer Garden concerns and includes a constitution for member approval. Officers elected previously will lead the new group, with Mrs. Wilber Thomas as president and Mrs. Roy F. Ensign as first vice.
