Capsized model boat triggers military search off San Diego
A model boat built by students of a south Orange County Regional Occupational Program class prompted a brief search by Navy and Coast Guard crews when a helicopter spotted a capsized six foot, thirty pound trimaran about 30 nautical miles west of Point Loma. The boat, Team America, launched May 29 for a Hawaii course, was retrieved later with its mast through the hull.
