Auto crash injures several youngsters and adults
A ten year old boy, Adolph Noriega of 40a Oak street, was bruised and cut on body and head after being struck by a car driven by Jack Nahown of 206 Broadway in the 200 block of North Alamo Street. Tose Sandoval, age two, sustained facial and chest lacerations in a separate collision on South Zarzamova Street. Joe Sandoval, 37, and his son were riding in a car that collided with a parked vehicle and careened into another, after being blinded by headlights. Mrs Julius Sandoval and Logis Winn were also injured in incidents near Travis and Navarro streets and at the St. Anthony hotel respectively.

War department findings show most volunteers enlist for economic benefits or other motives. A cross section of 1600 regular Army volunteers revealed patriotism only a minor factor. Among those with no prior service 56 percent aimed to omit their service period, while 5 percent enlisted for patriotism. Among prior service enlistees for three years 7 percent did so as patriots, 2 percent for spiritual calls, and 47 percent sought economic advantages and GI Bill benefits.
