Hearst and Pinay Talk Peace Vision in Paris Interview
In Paris French Foreign Minister Pinay told Hearst he believes this year could mark a turning point toward lasting world peace. He urged Western unity with Russia toward a general arms agreement and warned no true security exists without definite guarantees and defensive strength. Pinay doubted a Moscow trip for Adenauer before the Big Four meeting would be opportune, saying it could risk isolating West Germany.

Legion Fights To Keep GI Insurance
Washington June 10 CP The American Legion opposed a proposal to end the government free 310 000 life insurance for GIs while backing other key provisions in a revision bill on survivors benefits. T. G. Kraabel, director of the Legion's national rehabilitation commission, testified in general support of changes to widow and dependent survivor payments and a VA social security hybrid plan, but questioned adequacy and promptness of benefits for widows of lower grade servicemen with children. He noted the current $10 000 life insurance was the third government program since World War I.
