New Beauty at Oakwood Cemetery Adds Ten Evergreen Trees
George Needham of Willow Road donated ten evergreen trees planted at Oakwood Cemetery under the guidance of sexton Davis Toth and Needham. Some trees frame the mausoleum entrance and flank the Orange Risdon marker on Michigan Avenue. Needham plans more plantings at Curtiss Park with Rotary Club and DPW help while Saline installs a new four thousand two hundred dollar leaf vacuum to curb leaf burning and meet the city no burn rule.

Breathalyzer Training Expands DUI Enforcement in Saline
Police Chief James Levlett says Officers Charles Herbert and William Taylor completed a week of Breathalyzer training at Michigan State University and are now certified to administer tests. A Breathalyzer instrument will be used starting in October under a Highway Traffic Safety Grant, with plans to train six more officers. Refusal to test triggers 90 day to two year license suspension. DUI arrests rose from about 7,000 in 1967 to over 21,000 in 1969, with 1970 expected to rise.
