A nursery school continues weekly sessions in the big Saline Valley Farms building now serving as the Team sters' Recreation and Health Center. Children enjoy playful moments amid the reorganized facility offerings and community events.

Students Raise Funds for UNICEF Drive Across Saline

Saturday afternoon 45 junior high students canvassed the northeast section of Saline to complete a citywide UNICEF solicitation started by youth from the Methodist, Presbyterian and St. Paul churches. They collected $110.15 this session, bringing the total raised by church groups to $335.15 after last week’s $235.00.

Wandering Outhouses Reported Across Saline

Police logged several moving outhouses appearing in Saline and even in Ann Arbor on Halloween night. The origin of the portable shanties is unknown and officers urged residents to contact the force if one is missing. Present locations were uncertain, but could be tracked if sought.

Fair Board Annual Meet Set

Saline Fair Board holds its annual meeting at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the high school agriculture room to elect officers and conduct board business.

Jaycees Launch Holiday Fruitcake Sale

The Jaycees start a yearly fruitcake sale to fund their Christmas party for needy children. Fruitcakes are sold at Harold's Barber Shop Saline Pharmacy or through any Jaycee. A house to house sale will follow soon.

Two Men Injured in Willis Road Collision

At 10 p.m. Friday a crash at Willis Rd and Old Creek Dr left two men injured. Dave Seeger, 24, of Lawson, treated at Saline Community Hospital for a broken arm. Wesley Armbruster, 24, of Harris, advised to see his physician if back pain continued. The drivers were David Hoeft and Fred Raus. neither driver injured.

Council Incumbents Re-elected Amid Write-In Challenge

Three incumbents Jameson Ford Edward Marsh and Jack Measley won re election as the sole opposing candidate was a late write in Hubert Beach who captured 139 votes. Beach urged changes to write in procedures and criticized voting machine flaws citing gear slip and misbiased instructions. He warned of potential election voiding but acknowledged the large margin for the winners.

Volunteers to Help at Saline Blood Bank Event

Local volunteers including nurses and doctors will staff the Saline Blood Bank at Houghton School next Wednesday November 12. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will collect and store blood from 2 30 to 5 p m and from 6 to 8 30 p m with Dr W C Vander Yacht overseeing the afternoon and Dr R C Bernreuter supervising the evening.

Typing and Knitting Classes Open for Registration

Two adult education classes at the High School remain open for registration. The typing class runs 7 to 10 p m on Mondays, and the knitting or sewing class runs 7 to 9 p m on Thursdays. The Adult Book Group will meet at 8 p m on Monday November 24 at the Saline Public Library to discuss Robert Ardreys African Genesis.

United Fund Near 29 Percent In Saline Area

United Fund contributions in Saline total 11 078 37 dollars about 29 percent of the 38 128 dollar goal. The fund includes 2 861 80 from businesses 4 250 from industries 525 from professional people 954 from services and 2 487 57 from the residential drive. The residential drive has been under way about two weeks and is roughly half complete.
