171 Future Homemakers Association members staged a secret surprise for Mrs. Herman Mehler retiring high school secretary. Jean Wilson emceed as Mehler thanked the students and staff. They presented a silver tray and roses at a Little Theater ceremony with state delegates performing a skit.

City to extend hours for police communications staff
Police Chief James Levlett expects a part time communications helper to cover 5 p.m. to 8 30 a.m. during emergencies for the water department and fire and public works. Jaycee drive across four Saline schools aims to raise 185000 for a Vietnamese children’s medical facility. Students contribute well over the three pennies a day suggested as funds roll in from Pennies for Children in Vietnam through Michigan Week May 21 27. Funds collected will be tallied over the weekend and turned over to the state organization.
