Saline City Hikes Water and Sewage Rates
Saline City Council approved Ordinance 241 raising water rates to 5 dollars for the first 5,000 gallons and 30 cents per additional 1,000, with similar sewage charges and industrial rates. The third quarter will be the lesser of actual use or the three-quarter average. Council heard resident complaints on odors rust and color, and discussed water quality improvements and ballot items.

Legion Poppy Days Planned in Saline This Week
Saline American Legion sets Poppy Days for May 18 19 and 20 with proceeds to state and local child welfare and veteran rehabilitation programs. Poppy Day chairman Mrs Dan Levleit says Legion Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary will run the three day drive with volunteers at the Ford plant and in the Saline business district. Mayor Hubert Beach proclaims the days official and urges residents to wear the memorial flower in remembrance of sacrifices for freedom.

Township appeals State Boundary Commission annexation ruling
Lodi Township filed a claim of appeal in Washtenaw County Circuit Court after the State Boundary Commission reduced 136 acres for annexation to Saline. Judge William Ager was assigned. the commission has 60 days to forward files, delaying progress for about two months.

Clarks Plan Return to Saline From South Carolina
Ken and Kris Clark and their family intend to move back to Saline from South Carolina once their Mills Rd house is completed. Building began this week. The Clarks, former Lodi Estates residents, have been missed during their southern stay. The Rev. Robert Harvey and his family will relocate from Rochester NY to serve as pastor at First Baptist Church, moving in July. A family photo and more details will appear next week.

Saline Voters Defeat Two City Charter Proposals
