Saline bands sweep district festival with top ratings
Saline High School Concert Band and Saline Junior High Band earned unanimous first division ratings at the District Band Festival held at Lincoln Consolidated High School. Judges praised the High School group as outstanding, with high marks across all categories and individual praise for soloists and sections. The Junior High Band, performing earlier, also received the lone first division rating among its peers, with commendations on maturity and musical depth despite challenging pieces.

Advisory Group Hears Plans for Saline Elementary School
The Saline Area School District advisory council reviewed seven possible sites for a new K-6 elementary school and studied site utilities, grading and growth patterns. A finance subcommittee projected fixed operating costs around 51 000 per year per school, roughly two mills in tax impact, while curriculum planning favors a flexible use building with 18 classrooms and a kindergarten area.

Saline brochure outpaces changes at Ford mill
In Saline a city brochure printed last Friday overstates the mill’s status. Tom Doenges, owner of the Ford mill, announces new Sauk Trail Originals manufacturing at the site. Doenges has signed 32 dealers in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana with a goal of 150 and plans more products.

Saline Drops Milan in Milan Tournament Thriller
Saline led briefly early but fell behind in the first period and trailed 38 27 at halftime in a 72 54 loss to Milan. Ron Tucker scored 16 and Jim Feldkamp 10 for Saline while Milan's Tom VanWinkle poured in 31. Bob Armbruster scored three in his varsity readiness showing. William G. Anderson son of Mr and Mrs Harry L Anderson Sr 208 Detroit St receives his fifth academic key today as he is initiated to associate membership in the Sigma Xi society at the University of Michigan He holds a bachelor mathematics and a master electrical engineering and is a research assistant in the Institute of Science and Technology pursuing a doctorate He also belongs to Phi Eta Sigma Tau Beta Pi Eta Kappa Nu and Phi Kappa Phi honorary societies. A 1957 Saline High School graduate he works in Hoover Ball and Bearing Co engineering divisions.
