Fourth graders from Jensen and Houghton visit Union School for orientation while Union sixth graders tour the Middle School and eighth graders go to the High School. Union Track Day follows, seniors hold Awards Night in SHS at 8 p.m., and Saline graduates are set for June 5 at 3 p.m. in SHS gym.

Five Car Crash Ties Up Traffic East of Saline
A five car chain reaction on eastbound Michigan Ave near Maple Rd disrupted traffic at 3 30 p m after a thundershower slickened the pavement. Diane Bassett 17 Milan struck ahead vehicles. No serious injuries. Bassett cited for following too closely.

Saline council battles final budget choices before June 6 vote
Saline City Council has not settled on a final 1977-78 budget with three versions under review by City Clerk Bill King and council members Don Shelton and Jerry Wright. Shelton’s plan shifts funds to sewage plant improvements without extra sewer and water grants, while other versions keep 10 mills and similar service levels. The June 6 meeting could resemble a work session as additions and changes are debated. Also featured is a note that Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap will be staged June 16–18 at the high school auditorium with tickets forthcoming.

June 2 Arraignment Set For Sundling
Fred Sundling, 52, of 622 Rosemont, waived preliminary investigation on two counts of gross indecency with a 14 year old male and criminal sexual conduct in the second degree. Arraignment in Circuit Court, Ann Arbor, before Judge Patrick Contin, was set for Thursday June 2. Sundling remains free on bail.

Firemen Put Out Two Trash Fires
Saline area fire department responded to two trash fire alarms last weekend. One was Saturday evening at the Sheffield condominiums and the other at 1:30 p.m. Memorial Day behind the A P store. Damage was minimal in both incidents.

Gift aids Saline Library from Summer of '76 group
The Horizons Committee presented a 500 gift check to the Friends of the Saline Library on a Tuesday evening. The funds, from the Summer of 76 account, will support future library projects in the main and children's rooms, with decisions to be made this summer. New officers were elected, and a ceramics history talk by Dr. William Hu accompanied a library meeting and potluck.
