Saline Council weighs damages and water study plans
The Saline City Council heard from City Attorney Allan Grossman and Mayor Hubert Beach on restitution requests from Dan Fuccella and Robert Bert for flood damage and sewage cleanup costs. A blanket liability insurance adjuster will inspect. parking lot 2 is set for a square dance fundraiser on July 23. The council also approved drainage fixes for John Proctor and a $9,653.97 city share on Saline Ann Arbor Rd paving. A feasibility study of boosting water supply with a reservoir and possible Saline Area Recreation Commission were discussed. George Anderson will represent Saline at the Michigan Municipal League Convention with Edward Marsh as alternate and Jack Vaughan also attending.

Stolen 1966 Ford Mustang Used in Robbery Linked to Local Arrests
On July 16 at 7 20 am Melvin Helt reported his 1966 Ford Mustang stolen. The vehicle, black vinyl top over light green, Michigan GKZ 667, was used as the getaway car in an armed robbery in Ypsilanti at 2 58 am. The car remains unrecovered. Also noted were false fire alarms in Saline and Pittsfield that may have been diversionary. Additionally a 1969 Chevrolet driven by Terry Sheats was damaged in a hit and run at Thompson's Lounge. Other incidents include a July 18 collision injuring Catherine Bender, and July 14 damages to two 1971 Fords at Community Ford Sale. A Milan juvenile faced disorderly conduct and narcotics possession charges. A break in at the Mercantile Elevator Division netted 73 dollars. Majorie Jean Quick injured in a July incident.
