Blood Bank Drive Sees Local Volunteers and Donor Push

Saline Area Blood Bank hosts a Thursday drive at the Intermediate School from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A full team of registrars nurses and canteen volunteers will assist. Mrs Mamaron, a longtime helper and donor, is recovering from a recent hospital stay and will not attend.

Hoover Names Newsome Director of Special Services

James E. Newsome is named to a new Hoover Ball and Bearing Co. post as director of special services in Ann Arbor. He will coordinate industrial engineering and industrial relations across Hoover’s 13 divisions, bringing 17 years of Johnson and Johnson leadership and prior roles at Continental Can and U S Steel. Newsome has led professional associations including the Society for Advancement of Management and the American Management Association.

OES Card Party For Dimes Drive Set January 25

The 1964 New March of Dimes benefit card party hosted by chapter 311 OES will be at 8 p.m. Saturday January 25 at the Masonic Hall. Public welcome with prizes and refreshments. High score this week was Mrs James Carman 3680 in a benefit bridge series.

Saline Fair Funds Benefit Local Organizations

Saline Community Fair is non profit and funds received support local groups. The 1963 Fair distributed 1952.84 to Jaycees Kiwanis Future Farmers of America OES American Legion and Saline Recreation Commission for services and operations. Premiums totaled over 3000 for youngsters.

Grossman to Serve on Community College Committee

Allan Grossman has been appointed by the Saline Chamber of Commerce as the organization's representative on the Community College Executive Committee. The county wide district would fund a full program from nursing to engineering with a capital outlay of 6.6 million and state and federal aid possible. The election date is to be announced.

River Improvement Plan Approved by 30 Groups

Nearly 400 representatives from sponsoring organizations met in Tecumseh and unanimously approved the Raisin River Improvement Project. The next step is a February 11 Soil Conservation Service review in Lansing before state and federal approvals. The plan spans the Raisin River watershed over 700 000 acres, aiming to reduce floods and restore wildlife.

All Around Saline Community Notes Update

Mayor and Mrs. Jackson T Bennett travel to Winchester Virginia to visit his mother in hospital and expect to return Wednesday. Walter Armbruster hospitalized at St Joseph Hospital in room 6003 and may receive visitors. The Feldkamp family enjoyed a two week Florida vacation with relatives in Zephyrhills and Cape Kennedy with tours to Key West and Miami Beach. Weather was pleasant though cooler than expected. Renee Beauchamp and Robert Hazen underwent tonsillectomies at Saline Community Hospital. The Robison brothers had tonsils removed at Saline hospital. Roscoe Cammet recovering from surgery at St Joseph Mercy Hospital in room 4024. Hubert Beach remains hospitalized after a broken pelvis with eight weeks of back-lying required. Don Leidheiser visited from Lamar College and his brother Dick awaits February 1 leave from Keesler AFB. Medical patients at Saline Community Hospital include Mrs. Wahl, Mr. Heininger, Mrs. Wurster, Delbert Schenk, Lloyd Klager, and George Needham. Earl Bacon improving at St Joseph Hospital and may return home next week. Pvt Gary Niethammer returned to Ft Bragg after Christmas travel delays. Nancy Gail Holley celebrated her fourth birthday with a party on Rosemary St. Mrs Roy Rogers discharged from St Joseph hospital after 12 days for medical treatment and minor surgery.
