March of Dimes Drive Totals $2245.08 in Saline Area
The March of Dimes campaign in Saline has raised $2,245.08 so far with other events still unreported. In Lodi Township the bazaar netted $110 on two Saturdays, slightly below last year, with items donated by local families and businesses and Bill Lutz coordinating use of the Farm Council building. Other fundraisers include mailers $314 canisters $63.41, various donations $98 bowling $126 breakfast $222.35 Mothers March $1,088.74 and special events $332.61.

Council approved bids for water and sanitary sewer installations on Austin and Maple Roads. A Byrd Construction of Southfield will install Austin Road lines to the Catholic Church site for 27 897.56 with church approval of completion date. Gas service to industries to be interrupted Feb 8
Ann Arbor district general manager Jack D. Hogan says two Saline area plants Universal Die Casting Division and Hoover Bearing will have gas interrupted at midnight Sunday for at least two weeks to replenish storage. Both plants hold interruptible contracts with Michigan Consolidated Gas Co and can switch burners to other fuel without halting operations. A similar nine day disruption occurred in winter 1965.

Hearing on coach grievance drags into arbitration question
A preliminary hearing on the High School coach grievance case was held at the school to decide if the dispute is arbitrable. Each side argued for about four hours and both were given 30 days to file briefs. The arbitrer then has 30 days to issue a decision on arbitration. The dispute concerns the replacement of former varsity basketball coach Don Jaeger by James Bradley. Jaeger remains employed as P E and drivers training instructor, and the coach position is a salaried extra curricular post. The Board says the post is not tenure covered. SEA argues it is. Also, a motorcycle jacket belonging to Jack Richards was stolen from his car near Thompson's Lounge on E Michigan Ave Saturday night.

Saline council debates funded training for a police dog
