Hornets top Lincoln Railsplitters to extend SEC opener win streak

Saline Hornets defeated Lincoln 68 to 59 as Dave Ziegler scored a career 29 points, breaking the school mark while Scott Skinner and Tim Slepsky aided the charge. Saline stretched its win streak to five over Lincoln and prepared to host Chelsea next Friday.

Jensen Elementary to Stage Two Christmas Music Programs

Jensen Elementary students will present two daytime Christmas concerts this month. On Dec 14 at 10 15 a.m. kindergarten and first and second grades perform under Mrs Margaret Phillips with Mrs Jane Vargo accompanying in the school auditorium. On Dec 15 at 1 15 p.m. kindergarten through third grade perform under Mrs Phillips, with Mrs Vargo accompanying the first program. At Houghton School on Dec 19 at 9 30 a.m. a Christmas choral program features first and second graders directed by Mrs Phillips with Mrs Gloria Figg accompanying, and third graders directed by Mrs Kraushaar with Mrs Jody Tull accompanying.

Hold-up Strikes Archie's Tavern Alley

An armed robber halted two Archie's Tavern employees behind 103 E. Michigan Ave at 11 50 p m taking $15 from Christie Mastie and Peggy Malocha before fleeing with a long barrel revolver. Wayne Police traced a Reliance Electric van stolen Nov 22 and recovered Nov 29 resulting in one arrest. A 1969 Dodger theft linked to Rexall Roberts case led to custody at Washtenaw jail.

Freshmen Hornets Top Lincoln In Debut Game

The Hornet Fresh basketball team beat Lincoln 61 to 43 as ninth graders, coached by Doug Degner, wore down the visitors with stout defense. Dave Fosdick led with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Steve Monty, Tom Mitchell, and Mike Jenkins also contributed strong scoring. Next Thursday they host Chelsea at 7 p.m.

Thomas Paces Saline Jv in Cliff-Hanger 61-59 Victory

Saline's guard John Thomas scored 29 points and sparked a game turning late as the Little Hornets defeated Lincoln JV 61-59. Thomas fueled the comeback with key assists and a final free throw to seal the win, while Fosdick added 26 rebounds and 8 points in a strong team effort.

Junior grapplers begin season under coach Duane Koppelman

Middle School wrestling workouts started last Monday with about 42 participants under coach Duane Koppelman. A seventh and eighth grade meet schedule is set with openings against South Lyon on December 19. Koppelman notes effort earns competitive experience and some matches will be decided on a pair-up basis.
