Saline Jaycees Rodeo Report Delayed Final Cash Total
Saline Jaycees say the recent rodeo was financially successful but the final net figure cannot yet be reported as funds are still in and out. The Higby House print shop in Milan suffered extensive damage from a trailer fire last Thursday with insurance covering part of the loss. Charles and Mrs Higby plan to spend weeks restoring the business while a fire sale advertises remaining stationery and office supplies.

Veterans group presents flag to Saline city council
Saline VFW Commander Tom Mitchell and Cal Hieber offered a 3 by 5 flag that flew over the Capitol. It was secured through Congressman Marv Esch for Saline High School but deemed too small, and the group will give it to the city for the new Community Center while seeking a larger flag for the high school. Council accepted the gift. Saline Jaycees earned first place in external and internal programming at the state summer board meeting in Marquette, with honors in the 4,000 to 10,000 population category awarded to Earl Laughrey, Marland Hutt, Dick Compton, and Stu Rinebold.
