FHA Delegates Attend State Meet
Twelve members of the High School Future Homemakers association, who earned merit points, attended the state FHA meeting in Grand Rapids this week. Electors at the Saline township meeting adopted a resolution allowing the hall caretaker to refuse use for unchaperoned teen parties or any group breaking posted conduct rules. Dry Weather Sparks Rash of Grass Fires in Area
Fire Chief Harold Armbruster urged residents to avoid burning trash during the extreme drought. Seven fires in four days strained the department with three on Tuesday and multiple calls across Monroe street Hartman Road Maple and Ellsworth roads Mills Bennett Mooreville Road and the city dump. A resident drenched the burn site but the fire still grew out of control. The siren needed manual activation after a wiring fault.

David F. Webb twenty one of 3043 Stone School Road Pittsfield township suffered minor lacerations early Tuesday in a one car crash in Lodi township. Webb was taken to Saline Community hospital after the mishap. Deputies said he was driving south on the Saline Ann Arbor Road near Weber Road when he lost control on a curve. The car went off the road and struck a fence damaging about 30 feet of fencing.
