Saline City Council weighed Ed Hewitt's offer of Michigan clay a backhoe and volunteer labor to repair the Saline River dam. Hewitt said the work could take one Saturday with equipment from Mill Valley, and topsoil to replant the dike. Officials questioned whether clay alone would hold in floods given upstream development and larger runoff. They consider two 54 inch sluice tubes at around $20,000, lacking funds until July. Saline Soldier Earns Bronze Star in Vietnam
Army Staff Sergeant Lloyd C. Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis J. Lee of Saline, received the Bronze Star Medal on February 23 near Cu Chi Vietnam for heroism in ground combat. He is a platoon sergeant in Company B 1st Battalion 25th Infantry Division 5th Infantry. He holds the Combat Infantryman Badge and is a 1966 Saline High School graduate.
