Michigan is likely to drop from first in field bean production in 1933. September 1 estimates credit Michigan with 2 232 000 bags a 23 percent drop from California. The late crop yield is uncertain and reports may shift the gap. Michigan production would be about 48 percent below last year and 22 percent under the five year average. Field beans yielded the largest income in 1929 1930 and 1931 but 1932 prices left cash income below potatoes and sugar beets. 1933 may change that balance.
