Saline Jaycees begin Miss Saline pageant preparations while city councilman Max Collins declines reelection due to other duties. The judge panel will select among 16 to 24 year old single residents of the Saline Area School District based on appearance and poise with a final decision by non residents.

Poultry Exhibits Offered To Aid Polio Fund At Saline Fair

The Saline Community Fair poultry show will auction off exhibitors pens to benefit the Polio Fund. Don Burmeister notes efforts to keep poultry sanitary, and buyers will bid on pens donated by exhibitors. Ray mond Girbach and Mrs Kay Burr approved the plan with pens labeled for donor and buyer. Clarence Haarer arranged for purchase and dressing of poultry at a nominal fee. The sale occurs Friday afternoon and proceeds support polio work in the county.

Hammond voters reject annexation to Saline district by 16 14 vote

Thirty Hammond district residents met at the Hammond rural school house last Wednesday and narrowly voted 16 to 14 against joining Saline Area School District. Proponents filed another petition for a new election, the fourth time this issue has been put to voters.

Saline Town Survey Results Show Pride Despite Room for Improvement

The Child Study Club circulated a rate your town survey from Town Journal Magazine. Forty statements required yes or no and 28 were deemed true by a majority of respondents including students and adults. Results indicate Saline is a town to be proud of with notable strengths and some areas to improve.

Saline Community Fair plans big event with many entries

Saline residents are urged to join a larger fair featuring horses cattle swine sheep poultry rabbits and flowers plus jars canned produce and hobbies. Prizes include home recipe cakes from Devils Food and Angel Food Cake contests and opportunities in crochet design a Men Only trip to New York or Chicago and a pony division. Highlights include a horse pulling contest a parade concerts stage shows a beauty pageant and school exhibits scheduled September 29 30 and October 12 with a 35 cent full day admission.
