Saline Merchants defeated Onsted 7 5 after trailing early as M Wiedmayer pitched well from Saline and Stan Gall powered offense with a triple in the ninth. Onsted earlier took a 3-0 lead but Saline answered with four hits and base running, adding five runs in the seventh and eighth. Next Sunday the Colored All Stars of Ypsilanti visit for what locals expect to be the strongest team the season has seen.

The Rev. F. Robert Schreiber former pastor of St James Evangelical and Reformed Church Saline township died Tuesday Aug 29 after a long illness at 76. He served Eden Theological Seminary and St Johns Grand Rapids, helped shape the merged Church constitution, and was active in Michigan church affairs. He is survived by his widow a son three daughters and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Detroit and burial was in Woodlawn cemetery
