Epidemic of Infantile Paralysis Shuts Wayne Washtenaw Lenawee Schools
By order of the Department of Health the schools in Wayne Washtenaw and Lenawee counties will not open on September 5 and will stay closed until September 18 due to a serious epidemic of infantile paralysis. Dr. Engelke urges parental and child cooperation with health rules. Ten Ann Arbor cases and two deaths are reported with a new development in Manchester.

Funeral Services for Mrs Mat tie Craig Held at Britton
Mrs Mat tie Craig nee Kleversaat died Saturday August 19 at her daughter Mrs Harry Downing’s home in Macon township. Services were held Monday at WNiblack funeral home Britton with burial in Macon cemetery. She lived in Saline township most of her life and served as The Observer South Saline correspondent. Survived by husband Hugh three sons Donald Walter of Saline and Roscoe of Clinton a sister Mrs Sam Craig of Chelsea and 100 grandchildren.
